Solar Activity 24 Hour Summary

Solar activity reached moderate levels due to an M1.1 flare at 02/0301 UTC from Region 3571 (S17E56, Hsx/alpha). Associated with the flare was a type II radio sweep (1444 km/s) and a CME off the SE limb beginning at 02/0324 UTC in coronagraph imagery. This CME is not expected to have an Earth-directed component. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed. Slight growth was observed in Region 3571. Decay and spot separation was observed in Region 3567 (N19E29, Dai/beta). Slight decay also occurred in Region 3565 (N07E06, Cro/beta-gamma). New spots emerged in the SW quadrant and were numbered as Region 3575 (S37W18, Bxi/beta).
